Built for everyone.
A pharmacy that serves everyone in the neighborhood should have a website that works for everyone. We hold tfcpharmacy.com to WCAG 2.1 Level AA — and we're transparent about what's done, what's in progress, and how to ask for help.
TFC Pharmacy is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone, and apply the relevant accessibility standards as a baseline — not a ceiling.
Our target standard
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the conformance level recommended by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for healthcare information and ADA-covered websites. The full standard is published by the W3C at w3.org/TR/WCAG21.
What we've built for accessibility
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy on every page
- Full keyboard navigation across all interactive controls
- Focus indicators on links, buttons, and form fields
- Alt text on all meaningful images
- Color contrast meets 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text
- Form labels and error messages associated with their fields
- Skip-to-content links on long pages
- Responsive layout that works from 320px to 4K
- Text resizable to 200% without loss of function
- No information conveyed by color alone
- Reduced-motion support for users with vestibular sensitivities
- Compatible with current versions of NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack
What we're still working on
We're not finished. Items currently in our queue:
- Caption pass on every video we publish (target: end of Q3 2026)
- Plain-language summaries on every compounding library page
- Audio descriptions of the location/store imagery on the About page
- Spanish-language translation of the patient portal and refill flow
- Improved tab-order on the prescriber adherence chart
- WCAG 2.2 AA upgrade — published in late 2023; we're auditing against it
Accessibility tools we use
- Automated — axe DevTools, Lighthouse, Wave on every page during development.
- Manual — keyboard-only navigation testing on every major page before release.
- Assistive technology — NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS & iOS.
- External audit — annual review by a third-party accessibility consultant.
